pyKDL in 3D Modeling


I am wondering if anyone has knowledge of using the python binding for KDL in 3d modeling package maya. I have been looking through the documentation, which seems to say i need to install the entire sdk with the bindings. Is there anyway to take just the IK/KDL section and use it as an import for python in an application? Is there something that exists like this already?
