The following project announcement seems to be a very interesting
complement to Orocos!

Subject: [MAT-devel] IEC 61131-3 -> Almost fully implemented!

Hi all,

The following news has just been made public at the INDIN 2007 IEEE
conference (yeah, I have just arrived from Vienna!), so I am now free to
share it with you.

An IEC 61131-3 implementation is on its way. This inlcudes:
- SFC graphical editor
- LD graphical editor
- FBD graphical editor
- ST textual editor, with highlighting, auto-completion, etc...
- IL textual editor, with highlighting, auto-completion, etc...

All these languages are then compiled to C (not C++).

This has all been acomplished by a company in France, was written in
wxPython, and will be made available (probably under GPL v3). They used my
IEC 1131-3 compiler as a base, and have made many changes with
(unfortunately, very little) help from myself.

There is still lots of work to do, but things look VERY promising. Go on over
to www.beremiz.org and check out the video and slides used for the INDIN 2007
presentation.

There are also some additional things, like an SVG based method of doing HMI,
and linking it with the IEC 61131-3 code. And also a link to CanOpen based
I/O.

I am currently considering how to link this with the MatPLC, or if it is
worth doing it at all.

There is currently no mailing list for that project, so I guess we might just
as well discuss it here in the meantime...

I will be going on holidays soon, and offline too. So any questions, please
ask them quickly!

Cheers,

Mario.
