KDL 1.1.x

Hi All,

New to forums so please mind any ignorance. Just a question relating to KDL library, I am unsure how to get the 1.1.x revision shown in this link.

http://www.orocos.org/wiki/main-page/kdl-wiki/user-manual/kinematic-chains/kinematic-chains-kdl-11x

I am interested in this revision for its ability to obtain roots and leafs of a tree. Could someone please kindly direct me.

KDL 1.1.x

Thanks Willy,

This is the source I am currently using, unfortunately I can’t find the following function that is shown at the link below in the source or amongst the commits.

http://www.orocos.org/wiki/main-page/kdl-wiki/user-manual/kinematic-chai...
exit_value = tree1.getLeafSegments(leafs);

This is the revision I was hoping for.

Mick

I can't help with versionning, I don't know this library well. You should
provide the git branch (or tag) you are using to help people guide you.

Together with a summer intern, I created this update and streamlining of kinematic chain functionality of KDL.
However, it never got into an official KDL release.
The code is on a separate branch:
https://github.com/orocos/orocos_kinematics_dynamics/tree/kinfam_refactored

Thanks Dominick, I'll have a try at this branch

KDL 1.1.x

Hi Dominick,

Just a quick question with this KDL branch, I noticed that the tree
class in this branch (kinfam_refactored) has a private variable
containing a segment map of the trees leafs. I am actually using the KDL
library in conjunction with the KDL_parser for ROS URDF models. Just
wondering if there is a branch of the KDL_parser I can use as I think
the tree objects are different (KDL_parser tree doesn't have segment map
of leafs).

Regards
Mick

I didn't use that branch together with the KDL parser,
so if that variable is new wrt. the master branch, then there is indeed no support for that feature in the KDL parser (yet)

KDL 1.1.x

Hi Nick,

Thanks for that just wanted to make sure it wasn't in one of its branches before I started creating the functionality changes myself.

KDL 1.1.x

This one has slipped way to far,

we should revisit the proposed changes (changing/breaking API), it will be
hard to merge it if there is no backwards compatible API. Is anyone using
this branch on a daily basis?

I'm not,
If I find some time in the coming weeks, I'll have a look at the proposed changes, and restart the discussion (the wiki documents it rather well at the moment).
